Long Island Winterfest "Jazz on the Vine"

JAZZ on the Vine returns as the theme for the 2012 Long Island Winterfest for the fifth consecutive year. From February 11 to March 18 visit the East End of Long Island to enjoy 6 great weekends of truly exceptional jazz performances in winery tasting rooms. Admission includes a glass of wine* and a chance to win a FREE hotel night on the East End with a gift basket of Long Island wines. After a several-year absence, the UCI's mountain bike World Cup will return to the US in 2010. A ski resort in Windham, New York, which last year and this year has hosted a round of the US national series, will host a triple event, featuring cross country, downhill and four cross. The event will take place a few days before the World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada.

The Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz

The Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz has grown to be the largest FREE jazz event in New England, attracting a record 55,000 + fans last July. During the past several years, the attendance has averaged over 45,000!
                                                                                     

The tradition continues in 2010 in Bushnell Park, America's oldest public park, when the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz presents its 19th annual event featuring three nights and two days of hot and cool jazz on the Performance Pavilion and the Friends of the Festival Arch Stage, featuring great artists from around the world and the USA. Connecticut's State Capitol Building and Hartford's skyline provide a beautiful, dramatic backdrop as the sun sets and the stars rise in the night sky and on stage. 

Notable performers at the Festival have included The McCoy Tyner Big Band; Arturo Sandoval; Dave Brubeck; Marion Meadows; The Dizzy Gillespie All Stars, John Scofield, Chuck Mangione, the Ramsey Lewis Trio; Nicholas Payton; Gerald Albright; Herbie Mann; Phil Woods, Bobby Caldwell; Joe Sample; Billy Taylor, Sonny Fortune; Joey DeFrancesco; Ahmad Jamal, Eric Darius; Kim Waters; the Woody Herman Big Band; Gerald Albright and Kevin Mahogany.

To celebrate Independence Day (and the opening of our summer Skyride), we have some plans for this weekend. The weather is expected to be beautiful, so come on out and enjoy the REAL kick-off of summer.

On Saturday we'll have a barbecue on the slopeside sundeck (11am-3pm), plus live music from noon til 3pm. On Sunday, we'll have the grill fired up again from 11am-3pm. Stop by for a burger or dog and take the Skyride.

The Canopy Tour and Adventure Tower will be open... they still have a few reservations available.
